Life is a Cabaret

Life is a Cabaret

Another year almost gone, festivities chapping doon oor doors. Magic.

For anybody who knows me, have a good, solid merry xmas and enjoy the new year in 2008. Even if we don't know each other, I wish you all well. After all it is the season to be jolly.

Make a difference, live life to the full because it's really true that we don't know what's around the corner. Everything continually changes and I'm okay with that. Life is a cabaret old chum, life is a cabaret. It's also got to be what you make of it (fuck quoting shite 80's bands now).

Word of caution however, for all that glitters there's always a step or two that needs climbing on the journey. Start your ascents and make it happen folks but watch out for nose bleeds.

Changeling

December 13th: Changeling

This fair takes me back to my youth. I used to love the bullshit polemics that Jim Kerr came away with and they were quite simply shit hot back then. As a fourteen year old stuck in Tillydrone they gave me hope of something better. I just had to go and get it. That was the hard part.

Hurt

December 4th:

Hurt

"beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here"

It was a year past the 30th November since the Rebel Soul fae Aberdeen moved on, hanging up his bagpipes, always the true Scot, departing on our patron Saint's day.

I was going to do all sorts of things to remember him by but the truth was that in typical Scottish style I simply got bladdered with two of my brothers and our families. A way of hiding the stinging sensation still caused by remembering every moment of every last hour he was with me.

I thought Johnny Cash's song and Trent Reznor's lyric best sum up how I feel. I'm sure they wouldn't mind me sticking a few lines up here as the Rebel Soul loved the man and if he's gigging up in the heavens somewhere he'd have a front row ticket. Wattie Senior's last tune was "ring of fire" just before the curtain shut on him. Some thought it inappropriate, me, I thought it was Kwalitayyyy.

Da, you will never be far from me.
